Common questions

Is the free tier actually free?
Yes — the crime score, letter grade, and safety breakdown are free forever with no signup required. Just install and open Google Maps.
How accurate is the data?
Crime scores are statistical estimates based on geographic patterns and publicly available government data. Pro and Pro+ data comes directly from Census Bureau, BLS, EPA, FEMA, and FCC APIs. Always use SafeZone as a starting point for research, not as the sole basis for a housing decision.
Do I pay per search or per location?
Per location — specifically per roughly 50-meter radius. Once you unlock a location, it stays unlocked in your browser indefinitely. If you're evaluating 5 neighborhoods, that's 5 purchases maximum.
What data sources does SafeZone use?
US Census Bureau (demographics, income, commute), Bureau of Labor Statistics (unemployment), EPA AQS (air quality), FEMA (flood risk, disaster risk), FCC (broadband), OpenStreetMap (walkability, healthcare), and Urban Institute NCES (schools).
Is my payment information secure?
Yes. Payments are processed by Stripe — we never see or store your card details. SafeZone only receives confirmation that a payment was completed.
